It's Back to School...

 Why a Chiropractic Checkup?

First of all, “back to school” isn't just for kids – the whole family's schedule changes when school starts. That's why it's a good time for every family member to get a chiropractic checkup.

With a medical checkup the cranial nerves and deep tendon reflexes may be checked, but your M.D. Does not evaluate the nervous system as thoroughly as the doctors of Reinecke Chiropractic.

A chiropractic checkup evaluates the nervous system, the master system of the body. With a checkup we can detect a lack of function in the nervous system BEFORE it starts causing painful symptoms.

Identification of a neurological deficit before it starts causing painful symptoms is a plus in an adult, but even more crucial with a child! Kids are very resilient. Their bones are not totally ossified. When they have bones out of place or impingement of nerves they don't feel the pain as an adult would. Their bodies take on a compensation and grow “around” the problem. So basically a little problem isn't noticed until it turns into a bigger problem over the years.

Kids getting their eyes checked in school is a good analogy. Take the 1st or 2nd grader that isn't doing well in school who has dramatically improved grades after getting glasses... they didn't know they needed glasses until they got fitted with the proper lenses! The same with a neurological deficit caused by a vertebral subluxation in a youngster – they don't know they have a problem.

Once the problem is corrected they may be more coordinated, or able to be comfortable in their desk for longer periods.

Here are just some of the things that can be affected by neurological deficits from subluxations (and improved with chiropractic adjustments)

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Balance

  • Growing pains

  • Coordination

  • Confidence

  • Clumsiness

  • Attentiveness

  • Athletic ability

  • Sleep patterns

  • Aggressive behavior/acting out

At Reinecke Chiropractic we recommend a back to school checkup for all in the family. At the very least it may keep dad from having a snow shoveling back injury this winter, and ultimately, by restoring a youngster's nervous system to optimal function – we may change a life.
