The Kinesio Taping method applies tape over muscles and tissues to support muscles in movement on a 24-hour basis. It was developed by a chiropractor in Japan who describes it as a way to keep the doctor’s hands on the patient at all times to provide continuous healing and support.
It works as rehab for sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back/neck strain and sprains, and knee/shoulder conditions. Many athletes also feel that it improves overall performance even when not injured.
This procedure reduces pain and inflammation and relaxes over-used muscles. Kinesio Taping is non-restricted (you can bend and move freely) and allows for full range of motion. It has even been used extensively by Olympiads during their events with many finding that the tape improves, rather than hinders, performance. Be sure to look for the tape once the 2016 Summer Olympics come around, but you can get some Kineseo Taping for yourself right here in Sioux Falls before then.
